END CREDITS REVIEW: THREE THOUSAND YEARS OF LONGING

RATING: ALREADY BUYING A TICKET FOR A REWATCH ON THE BIG SCREEN

Release: 2022

Director: George Miller

Cast: Tilda Swinton, Idris Elba

George Miller’s Three Thousand Years of Longing is an imaginative, colourful and fascinating movie that analyses the beauty of storytelling and the way it is central to the existence of humanity.

The film contains many different stories set in different times and places based on tales old and new. The camera moves swiftly through locations and around characters. Always moving and always finding something interesting to focus on.

This and the film’s whimsical, fairytale-like tone carry all these stories along. It makes use of stunning locations from around the world and features two captivating performances from its two leads Swinton and Elba.

It is a very fun watch at the cinema and at first glance seems to analyse how science and facts diminish the need for storytelling in a world that needs it more than ever.
