RATING: TAKES TOO LONG TO GO NOWHERE
Release: 2022
Director: Olivia Wilde
Cast: Florence Pugh, Harry Styles, Chris Pine
Don’t Worry Darling is centred on an interesting idea and features great performances and really nice visuals. A lot of the film’s images are creative, effective and well shot. But they don’t seem to fit in with the story.
The film never really successfully merges effective imagery with its writing (apart from maybe one truly scary scene where men in red take Florence Pugh’s character away). Even now I cannot understand what the film is trying to say. And it feels like the creators don’t either.
There is a lot of repetition and then it just explains everything (the twist being uninteresting and predictable) and lazily brings us to a conclusion.
It is a shame because the performances, cinematography and initial idea are all intriguing and well done. I think the movie is worth watching for those reasons. But it’s just that the story never clicks into place.

2. I’m allowed to go over what I’ve written once just to make sure it makes sense. And that’s it.
3. I will rate the movie according to how likely I am to watch again.
